Overview
Dr. Sandra Ofori is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University, and an Investigator at the Population Health Research Institute, Hamilton, Canada. She is a General Cardiologist and Perioperative Medicine Specialist at the Hamilton Health Sciences.
Areas of Research Interest
Her research is centered on identifying the best clinical approaches to enhance the long-term health of surgical patients with a focus on smoking cessation, and the use of virtual care with remote automated monitoring to support early, safe discharge from hospital after surgery and reduce acute hospital care following discharge. Dr Ofori has led and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, she is the recipient of several peer reviewed grants and awards including the Michael G DeGroote fellowship award for clinical research and the Department of Medicine Early Career Award, both at McMaster University, Canada. She has received over $480,000 in peer-reviewed research funding to date to support her research activities.
Training
She obtained her M.B.B.S from the University of Port Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria, and completed medical residency followed by a cardiology residency at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. She completed her MSc in Preventive Cardiology at the Imperial College, London, United Kingdom. She then completed a Perioperative Medicine fellowship and earned a PhD in Health Research Methodology (Clinical Epidemiology) at McMaster University, Canada.

- Dr Ofori is a professional member of the Nigerian Cardiac Society, Pan-African Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, Society of Perioperative Care and Research, and a member of the Early Career Researchers Steering Committee at the Population Health Research Institute, Canada.
